Started fast draw in late 2011, first match was 2012 fastest gun alive, won the gunfighter bracket and was hooked. That same match I got to see our founder Kodiak, win his world championship. I was in awe of that kind of speed. I wanted to be that fast, ended up hooking up with the Deputies and meeting some great people, first was Bob Bussinger and he started frequenting our club matches. I don’t know what it was but I think he saw something in me, we became pretty close in such the short time we had together, RIP. There was always just something about watching him and talking to him, that passion for the sport. Bob got me to start the push for the speed. Then I got to know a great friend, who is now like a big brother, Master Gunfighter. He took me under his wing and helped me refine this craft. Went through a lot of downs in this sport before it got better, but he believed in me and luckily enough, his and Bob’s push to persevere worked. Now I’m here today amongst the fastest, greatestgroup of people in any sport that I’ve ever met. Not too long after my family met Mr. Bussinger, his health started failing him, he approached us about taking over Spitfire Wax from him. With a tear in my eye, I am proud to be able to say we try to carry on a legacy he started. Work hard, talk low, talk slow, and don’t talk too much. I have an amazing wife, a small but tight knit family that has grown beyond blood relation. I work at a family owned, successful construction company. And if it ain’t shootin’, workin’, or drinking beer, then I probably ain’t doing it. This is probably the most you’ll ever hear from me, but I am proud to be a part of this group of sportsmen, it’s an honor to be considered an equal in such a highly trained/skilled class of competitions, and still be able to smile, laugh and have beer when the match is over. The people I’ve mentioned are a large part of showing the true meaning of this, but not the only ones, everyone in this group is a stand up act that I applaud every time I see them. |
